LGBTQ+ Pride Month

DEIA Committee | Published on 6/6/2024
As League members, we know the power of standing together and ensuring that all voices are heard. The DEIA Committee reminds League members that June is Pride Month—dedicated to celebrating the identities and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community.

Tracing its roots back to the June 1969 Stonewall Inn uprising in NYC, Pride Month is both a celebration and a protest. Pride is often associated with massive parades and parties that honor the community’s joys and accomplishments. But the rallies, marches and political actions can be just as important to draw attention to the issues still facing the community. The issues still exist and, in some cases, the rights of LGBTQ+ people are being restricted and denied as some state legislatures introduce record number of bills
targeting these citizens.
