League Highlights Power of the Vote at October 24 Celebration

Free afternoon event at Orlando’s Cypress Grove Park features fun family activities

Register here for 1pm CELEBRATION OF VOTING at the Voter Tree - 10/24/2021

ORLANDO, SEPTEMBER 28— Two years ago the League of Women Voters of Orange County, Florida, gathered at Cypress Grove Park to plant The Voter Tree, honoring the importance of voting rights won in hard-fought battles over many years.

This year, the Orange County League invites the public to return with them to The Voter Tree on Sunday, October 24, for a fun afternoon with a serious purpose — to spread the word that “Your Voice + Your Vote = Your Power.”

Organizers invite folks to bring a picnic lunch, don their family-friendly Halloween costumes, and join the fun at the Pavilion in Cypress Grove Park, 290 Holden Ave., in Orlando.

The event will feature live music, games, giveaways for the kids, and refreshments for purchase from select food trucks. Costumed patriotic characters – Susan B. Anthony, Sojourner Truth, and Uncle Sam – will say hello and be available for photos. All are welcome, and there is no charge.

Family activities and games start at 1 p.m., with a short program at 2 p.m. All events will wrap up by 4 p.m.

Presenting partners for the event include the Orange County League’s Voter Services and History committees, Orange County’s Supervisor of Elections Bill Cowles, District 3 Commissioner Mayra Uribe, and Orange County Parks and Recreation.
