Discussion: What challenges do people with disabilities normally face when it comes to voting? What challenges have been added to the already existing issues due to the pandemic? What are the best ways for the League to ensure people with disabilities are treated fairly when trying to vote?

Our “Warriors for Democracy” story shines at History Center
If you visit the Orange County Regional History Center to see the landmark exhibition titled Yesterday, This Was Home: The Ocoee Massacre of 1920, take a few minutes to soak up the women’s history on display in the area outside the exhibition gallery.
Along with ten posters from the Smithsonian titled Votes for Women: A Portrait of Persistence, you’ll find four Warriors for Democracy posters, full of pictures and rich information from our very own LWVOC women's story.  Click HERE to see posters on our website.
The History Committee is grateful to the museum’s chief curator, Pam Schwartz, for inviting us to add a local dimension to the Smithsonian display with our own story of persistence. Read more in our history book, Warriors for Democracy, full of inspiration. Order your own copy HERE.  Copies are also available for sale at the front desk at the History Center.  The design of the four posters at the History Center is by Leaguer Jill Shargaa of Shargaa Illustration and Design, with text by Ann Patton, Tana Porter, and Joy Dickinson, as always with the leadership of Joan Erwin. #VOTES4ALL is the name of three identical interactive programs presented by Valencia's Peace and Justice Institute and LWVOC at 6 pm on October 14.  Inspired by the role of voting in the Ocoee Massacre, the virtual sessions describe the history of voter suppression in central Florida as it relates to gender and race.  It's free and meaningful to realize the truths of the continuing struggles and discuss in small break-out groups.  Choose one of the three and register here:  #Votes4ALL
