Volunteer ~ Support ~ Work

Board Member Opening
We have regretfully accepted the resignation of Shan Rose as Treasurer effective immediately.  Shan has filed to run for HD41 and as you all know from your close reading of the Bylaws and Policies & Procedures, she is no longer eligible to serve as a result.  We thank Shan for her willingness to step up and serve the League.
Share your financial expertise as our new Treasurer.  We have experienced former Treasurers who are ready to help you transition into that role.
Leagues of our size typically have paid administrative support but we've relied completely on volunteers...until now.  With the growth of the LWVOC and the challenges of Board transitions, it's time to hire an Executive Assistant.
With this kind of support, we can give our hard-working volunteers more space to concentrate solely on their advocacy passion.

Whether you're a member or a friend of the League and are interested in working for the LWVOC, click this link for full job description.  Please share this position with your interested friends, colleagues, etc.

The Adopt-A-Precinct (AAP) program is a community partnership initiated by the Supervisor of Elections.   Participating organizations “adopt” a precinct, or several precincts, during an election by providing the people to staff the polling place for that precinct. The Supervisor of Elections then writes a check to the organization, rather than paying the individual workers. The AAP program funnels tax dollars to AAP groups and back into the community through their efforts.

Volunteers Needed--VOTE411 is the League’s online Voter Guide that will be available at the end of June.  We are working on our local version right now.  We would like to have the candidate descriptions and questions in Spanish as well as English. We need a couple of volunteers with proficiency in writing Spanish to translate for us.  If you have such skills and would like to volunteer, please let us know.  Contact Kathy Sheerin kathysheerin.lwvoc@yahoo.com
or Terry Gillam tsgillam42@gmail.com
Teachers Wanted!
The Education Committee is looking for local educators who would like to participate in this year's Harvard Case Method Civics Workshop, AUG 20.  All training, case materials, and ongoing teacher support is FREE.  Learn more HERE about nominating a local teacher.  Nomination deadline is JULY 10.

LWVOC is starting a podcast.  We're first starting with interviews of members and non-members related to voting. Some of the questions will be related to the first time you voted, thoughts about voting, why you vote, etc.  Our hope is to launch the first episode by the end of June.
The podcast will move on to other topics of interest to the club as we progress through the year.
Any questions, or if you want to volunteer to be interviewed, please reach out to Susan Baxter at baxtersc@gmail.com
