One of our greatest strengths as a League is the amazing work we do year around to fulfill our mission of empowering voters and defending democracy. As we head into a busy election season, we would like to gather our membership for a new series. We are calling it Grassroots University and we request that you make time to attend this important webinar. The goal of this series is to help us get more aligned with our grassroots efforts. This first session will cover our new communications strategy, partnerships with allied organizations, and new tools to reach more voters. All members are encouraged to attend. Even our most seasoned Leaguers and especially our chairs. We need all hands on deck!

Please join us on August 16th at 6:30 P.M. You can register HERE. We are so grateful for your dedication to the League and hope to see you on the 16th!

Orange County News

Recent shocking events involving firearms have pushed Orlando officials to add "controlled entry checkpoints" as well as other safety measures.  The county has also faced multiple shootings including a tragic family murder/suicide recently.  Email Eugene Stoccardo to get involved with LWVOC Gun Safety efforts.  Click to learn MORE about how you can become involved with the LWVFL Gun Safety initiatives.

Committee Updates

Transportation Committee:This November, Orange County voters will decide if they want a one-cent sales tax increase to fund transportation needs across the County. On April 26, 2022, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners voted 4-3 to put the transportation sales tax referendum on the fall ballot.  Also, note that the Sept 14 Hot Topics is about this issue. Click to learn more about the initiative and watch this special video.
