CAN WE TALK ABOUT DEMOCRACY?  Yes.  We suggest you join your fellow Leaguers next Thursday, DEC 15 at the Holiday Party (register HERE) and do it in person, toasting our resilience for surviving and thriving in 2022 while defending democracy!  Join us for a delicious dinner, drinks, and member recognition in the perfect environment to share our warrior stories.
 
AND LEARN HOW OUR LEADERS SPOKE UP ABOUT IT YESTERDAY!
League leaders including LWVFL President Cecile Scoon and LWVOC Co-President Barbara Lanning were at City Hall with community partners for a press release of the League's position on the Moore v. Harper case, the NC legislative move to usurp federal power in state elections and now in the hands of the US Supreme Court.  Read the details HERE as well as a link to a short video statement from President Scoon.
 
PLUS MAKE PLANS FOR AN IN-DEPTH DISCUSSION IN JANUARY
Hot Topics begins the year with a discussion of "The State of Democracy in Florida."  Our incredible panel includes a former Justice of the FL Supreme Court, the CEO of the Holocaust Memorial Resource & Education Ctr of FL, a celebrated FL investigative journalist and author, and a renowned Professor of Sociology and Director of the Puerto Rico Research Hub at UCF.  The moderator is a mediator and arbitrator at a local law firm as well as a former judge.  Learn all about our guests and register early as THIS will be a compelling opportunity to ponder the future of democracy.  Click for details and registration info.
