As our nation marks 250 years, we celebrate the enduring promise of democracy — a promise strengthened every time people raise their voices, participate, and shape our collective future. The League of Women Voters of Orange County honors this historic anniversary with renewed commitment to empowerment, equity, and the belief that our democracy is strongest when everyone is heard.

We have two upcoming candidate forums detailed below to hear the candidates' voices. Mark your calendars and register for these important events! Be sure to SCROLL all the way down for our "Calls to Action" and Volunteer opportunities.

Serving Orange and Osceola counties, the Ninth Circuit covers over 2,500 square miles and serves more than 2 million residents. Visit our Hot Topics page to learn more about the candidates participating in the forum.
Among the issues to be discussed at Hot Topics:
--How work experience has qualified the candidates for the job
--What events have shaped their philosophies
--The extent to which the candidates have practiced in criminal and civil law

We would like to welcome our newest Hot Topics Silver Sponsors: Jenny Green Chan and Ella Chan. Find out more about our sponsorships and email: Lee Rambeau-Kemp

Non-profit fundraising is a year-long process. Although the Summer Match Campaign has successfully ended, we continue to raise money as the threats to the voting process continue to appear. $upport LWVOC Here
It's Time to Break our $39 Trillion Silence
Leaguer Kam Shenai has thoughts about the national debt that we are paying forward to our children and beyond.

"Our national debt has crossed $39 trillion because both parties spent more than they took in for 25 years, and now nearly a trillion dollars a year goes just to interest — money that makes nothing cheaper, quietly pushes up the rates you pay, and lands on our grandchildren."

Start the month with ACTION! Call or email your Senator to VOTE YES on S.4814
This bill could stop the termination of TPS protections for Haiti, Syria, and other countries in the future. It already passed the House as H.R. 1689—due to Congressman Frost and Congresswoman Pressley—which demonstrates bipartisan support.
Beginning July 1, many TPS recipients will lose their work authorization. The impact on the healthcare system and tourism industry will be significant.

The DEIA Committee encourages League members to observe Disability Pride Month each July. It is a time to celebrate disability identity, culture, and leadership, while also commemorating the historic passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Embracing the 2026 theme, “The World Works Better With Us,” this month serves as a powerful reminder that inclusive communities—across schools, workplaces, and public life—benefit everyone.
We know that when we change the way we look at someone, we change how we see and value uniqueness in every individual.
Check out the books on our July booklist "Disabled Not Enabled" to enhance your understanding of the 61 million Americans who live with a disability.
