| It's Constitution Week (Sept. 17-23), an observance initiated by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in 1955, and after Congressional approval signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. As the Constitution has been most newsworthy as of late, we encourage you to revisit this historic document, now in its 239th year. Need a copy? We know where to get one....
Free concert! Those who attend will also receive 1 free pocket Constitution as well as great music. The League of Women Voters will be on hand to register new voters and highlight resources to evaluate political candidates.

It was herculean effort between volunteers and candidates to make them happen. NOW, it's up to you to SHARE the recorded events. Five Orange County Districts will decide on a new (or re-elected) commissioner. Although they will represent their own district, their voices and votes on critical issues will affect the entire county. They want YOU to get to know them and let your voice be heard through your VOTE. Also included, the Orange County mayoral forum at Hot Topics and the final undecided Ninth Circuit Judge, Group 1.

The Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) Central Florida-Dorothy Turner Johnson Branch celebrated its 9th year of its charter on Sunday September 13 at the Winter Park Library. The branch is named after Dorothy Turner Johnson, an Educator, Librarian, WII Veteran and member of the famed 6888 Central Postal Directory Battalion, and life member of ASALH. Every second Sunday of every month ASALH in Conversation is hosted by Moderator Dr. Rebekah McCloud and in addition to Founders Day, this conversation was about voting. Coincidentally, five members of the discussion panel were League members: Saudi Ellis, Patricia Broussard, Cherlynn Williams, Larry Colleton, and Dr. Rebekah McCloud! | |
