Advocacy in Action! Here's a great example of how an LWVOC committee gets involved.

Our Immigration Committee partners with local, state, and national groups for the fair and humane treatment of immigrants.

As shown here, they and others recently marched to urge Senator Moody to cosponsor S 414, that would extend TPS for Haitians until 2029. See a special report about it HERE from Spectrum News 13.

Meet the Co-Chairs Jill and Paul Heroux at the upcoming LWVOC Showcase or click on the committee link above for more information.
Every conversation matters. Every volunteer matters. And every voter we reach helps build a stronger, more representative democracy.~Kay Hudson

Another week, another round of visits to schools and community events educating voters and providing election information! You can join these groups as part of our grassroots efforts at Volunteering Opportunities. Thank you, Voter Services and Speakers' Bureau! We try to correctly identify as many volunteers as possible but appreciate your patience as we squint to read the name tags! ;-)

The LWVFL has joined forces with a number of organizations from across the state to get the word out about it including the Florida Sheriff's Association which has a very clear message - Amendment 3 is the wrong way to offer a tax cut. Click HERE to watch their video and also HERE.

The LWVOC sponsored candidate forums have come to a close.
Five Orange County Districts will decide on a new (or re-elected) commissioner. By watching the recorded forums, you can hear them answer tough questions as well as learn about their visions for their districts and the county. Also included is the Orange County mayoral forum at Hot Topics and the final undecided Ninth Circuit Judge, Group 1.

JOIN US next month for this unique conversation about the mindset of anxiety that is surrounding the upcoming mid-term election. Two of the panelists joining us include:
  • Laudi Campo, Florida state director of the Hispanic Federation, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the Hispanic community.
  • Nick Shannin, General Counsel, Orange County Supervisor of Election and Founder of the Shannin Law Firm
We'll be questioning WHAT is making the voting public so anxious? HOW will it affect the election outcome?  WHEN did you notice the tone change? Plus much more.
