AUGUST 23, 2022 PRIMARY ELECTION
NOVEMBER 8, 2022 GENERAL ELECTION.
The Adopt-A-Precinct (AAP) program is a community partnership initiated by the Supervisor of Elections. Participating organizations “adopt” a precinct, or several precincts, during an election by providing the people to staff the polling place for that precinct. The Supervisor of Elections then writes a check to the organization, rather than paying the individual workers. The AAP program funnels tax dollars to AAP groups and back into the community through their efforts.
The LWVOC has participated in the Supervisor's Adopt-a-Precinct Program for many years. It is a great way to make money for the League and to support the election process directly. It is also a wonderful opportunity to be part of a unifying team effort with other committed League members.
Below is a description of the poll worker positions. Each position is for a full precinct day and requires a training session. It may also include participation in setting up precinct equipment the afternoon before the election.
POLL CLERK
Supervises the Election Board, picks up supplies the Saturday prior to the election and returns them on election night to a collection site.
VOTING SYSTEM INSPECTOR:
This poll worker is responsible for the voting equipment, DS200 Tabulator and ExpressVote®, which includes setting up both and closing the polls.
HELP DESK OATH PERSON
This poll worker assists voters who present exceptions to the normal voting pattern by checking voter records on a tablet or by calling the Elections Office. Computer skills are required. (This poll worker does not need to be an Orange County registered voter).
ePOLL BOOK INSPECTOR
Locates voters’ names in the ePoll book (tablet), determines voters’ eligibility, and issues voters’ their ballot. Computer skills are required.
POLL DEPUTY
This poll worker maintains order outside the voting room, and assists voters entering and exiting the voting room. (Poll Deputies must be cleared through the Orange County Sheriff’s Office).
