League Leaders Converse with International Group

Staff | Published on 12/4/2022
WorldOrlando contacted us to organize a meeting on Nov. 21. Their organization implements the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), which is designed to be a professional exchange between emerging leaders in other countries and professionals here.

Former League President, Leesa Bainbridge, met with one of their projects back in 2018. This request is on behalf of 8 participants visiting with 3 liaisons on a program titled “Current U.S. Social, Political, and Economic Issues for Young European Leaders III.” The visitors are government officials, business leaders, politicians, civic and community leaders, journalists, and academics. The U.S. Department of State has outlined the following specific objectives for the project:

  • Introduce and provide broad exposure to current U.S. social, political, and economic issues and associated policy formulation;

  • Examine interrelated U.S. foreign and domestic policy topics, including homeland security and intelligence gathering, trade and economic development, immigration and integration, health and social services, environmental sustainability, and energy; and

  • Explore the role of diversity, the individual, and religion in the United States.

The Dept. of State requested a meeting with the League of Women Voters Orange County to discuss how LWVOC engages young women voters across party lines in advocacy for women’s issues.
